The Calgary Stampede is definitely a unique experience. It’s not everyday you see a city come together for a 10 day event of festivals, rodeos, concerts and much much more. Dubbed the “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” it definitely lives up to it expectations.
It is a time when the city of Calgary celebrates its Western heritage. Besides the actual events occurring throughout the days, the best way to celebrate Stampede is to dress for the occasion. That’s right, cowboys and girls as far as the eye can see, in the office, in the park, if you’re not wearing plaid and jeans during Stampede then you’re definitely from out of town.
Luckily I was able to blend in for the fair grounds and attend the chuckwagon race and finale show. I love the whole atmosphere of Stampede, needless to say I got my country on (or as country as I could get) and embraced the week filled with Shania Twain, mini-dohnuts and cowboy hats.
