Met Gala 2016: Manus x Machina

It’s that time of the year again. The Met Gala is tonight! This year’s theme is  Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.  Exploring the relationship between hand craftsmanship and the use of machines when producing couture. Many Haute Couture dresses can be fully made by hand, by machine or both. In the end it can really be up to the viewer to decide the authenticity of the outcome.

As curator of the Met Gala Andrew Bolton states “It is really about the desired effect”.

Regardless throughout the years the Gala has shown some stunning pieces on the runway both from machine and hand; perhaps something never considered fully until now.

I love how the Gala is a representation of a fashion lover’s biggest dreams come to life with some of the most outrageous and gorgeous outfits seen. Here are a few of my favourites throughout the years. Hope you enjoy and get into a suave mood for tonight! x
